Innovation meets automation: The revolution of Generative AI

The future of work will be marked by a blend of human creativity and AI assistance, offering more profound and innovative solutions

In this ET Edge Insights interview, Piyush Jha, Managing Director of APAC GlobalLogic, discusses the impact of Generative AI, a transformational technology, on various industries and our daily lives.

Generative AI has become commonplace, with applications ranging from school assignments to complex tasks like artificial conversations. It has revolutionised the way we access information and perform tasks, making tasks more accessible and efficient.

However, there is a concern that Generative AI might hinder creativity and limit human cognitive growth. Piyush Jha acknowledges this concern but believes that its impact depends on how people utilise this technology. While some may rely on AI-generated content without adding creativity, others can use it as a starting point to generate new and innovative ideas.

The fear of job displacement due to AI is also discussed. He draws parallels with some historical technological advancements like calculators and automation in the software industry. He believes that as AI takes over repetitive and menial tasks, jobs will evolve to require more creativity, algorithmic skills, and sophistication.

In the IT industry, Generative AI is being deployed to enhance customer service, making interactions with bots smarter and more efficient. Call centres, for example, may use AI bots for late-night queries while retaining human support during regular hours.

GlobalLogic, as an organisation, is actively embracing Generative AI to ensure that it not only enhances efficiency but also safeguards job security. While Generative AI has the potential to perform intelligent tasks, he emphasises the importance of human creativity in conjunction with AI.

GlobalLogic has been deeply involved in OpenAI and Generative AI technology since 2021. Their engagement is so advanced that he sometimes wonders if the content created by his team is human-generated or a result of Generative AI like ChatGPT. OpenAI has acknowledged their contributions in this field.

Currently, GlobalLogic is working on 8-10 customer projects where Generative AI is utilised to improve and smarten applications. They are also experimenting with a co-pilot mode, which enhances research and development productivity by up to 30% using Generative AI technologies.

The future of work will be marked by a blend of human creativity and AI assistance, offering more profound and innovative solutions. For more information on Generative AI, we highly recommend watching this enlightening discussion.
