“Adoption of technology in Indian businesses is rising rapidly”

What has been the digital strategy for Heavy Engineering and Construction sector as far as you are concerned? What technologies/innovations have you used to create the best customer experience needed?

Many of engineering and construction (E&C) companies have leveraged the benefit of digital strategy.  There are few practices, which can help E&C companies to move beyond isolated pilots and unlock digital’s value across their enterprises. E&C companies can increase the adoption of digital technologies, which will eventually make a positive difference by first identifying operational changes that will improve performance, then defining digital use cases that will enable those operational changes. Solutions we implemented include:

  1. Digital use case to promote collaboration
  2. Installing IT Solutions to fix pain points
  3. Reskilling and restructuring of engineering team

As a technology leader, what role do you think a good cloud strategy plays in market traction and optimisation of resources?

A Good Cloud Strategy plays vital role in market traction and optimisation of resources and it may be adopted base on the need and ask of industry and organisation, for example in Fintech, it’s a better strategy to adopt Hybrid Cloud and Multi Cloud with right security tools, Private Cloud PODS adoption, Availability Zones and micro segmentation.

What role do stakeholders play in this? When you were adapting to this platform did you face any questions by the leaders in the organisation?

Stakeholders plays key role, as without taking stakeholders along with during the Cloud Adoption Journey, it can’t be a successful Journey. Usually leaders do have obvious question of Security and availability, for us there were 4 D’s (Zero Defect, Zero Downtime, Zero Delay, Zero Danger), which has been integral part of all projects.

How do you see adoption of technology in Indian businesses (large and SMBs) and do you think it will help India to take the next big leap?

By and large, adoption of technology in Indian businesses is rising rapidly – cloud spending in India is estimated to grow at 30% p.a. to reach USD 7.1 – 7.2 billion in 2022, while Global Cloud Computing is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 16.5% p.a. to reach USD 345 billion by 2022.

‘XaaS’ is emerging as a preferred model for IT services in the post-pandemic world, due to a variety of benefits such as: operational flexibility, cost advantages, on-demand models, speeding new apps/business processes are further driving adoption of cloud services across enterprises. Opening up new avenues for tech-giants to provide cloud service, applications, talent, and technology platforms.

What will be your 5 key advise to technology leaders in making?

Now days Technology leaders are more informed and equipped with the right skills and information, than ever, however in my opinion below may be points to consider:

  1. Design Technology landscape around “Designed for Failure”.
  2. Make it Modular and scalable.
  3. Hardware devices are meant and prone to failure, however Application landscape should be designed to have zero impact on business even in case of underlying Infrastructure failure.
  4. Adopt Infrastructure as a Code, DevOPS, Multi Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, OpenSource Platforms as per need of the Organization.
  5. Move away from Legacy, in phased manner.
