WebEngage bolsters data science and AI capabilities

WebEngage is intensifying its focus on demonstrating deeper value delivery and ROI from the engagement via a data-enabled Retention Consulting practice.

WebEngage has announced a significant expansion of its data science and AI capabilities through the acqui-hiring of the Data Scientists from Propellor.ai.

This strategic move aims to harness the vast amount of data within the WebEngage Customer Data Platform (CDP) to provide clients with advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions, including Predictive Segmentation, Recommendations, and persona development.

WebEngage is increasing its emphasis on delivering greater value and return on investment (ROI) through data-driven Retention Consulting services. Despite having access to billions of data points and robust engagement features, there is significant potential for growth in platform adoption. Unlike established acquisition-focused advertising platforms such as Google and Facebook, the retention and user engagement sector is still emerging, with the talent pool in its early stages of development.

Avlesh Singh, Co-founder & CEO of WebEngage, commented, “WebEngage has the potential to make a substantial impact of 20-40% on a customer’s revenue and profit metrics, unlike productivity SaaS platforms. Many marketers utilize only about 20% of their retention technology stacks, limiting the ROI and effectiveness they can achieve. We recognized the need to enhance our advisory services to help our clients achieve better results. Our talented team of Data Scientists will enhance our ability to leverage customer data effectively. We refer to this approach as ‘skin-in-the-game consulting’ because our success is tied to our clients’ success.”

Abhijat Shukla, a seasoned Data professional and the founder of Propellor, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m eager to apply our skills and expertise to provide valuable insights in an easily understandable manner to support effective decision-making. Our data-driven clients are in for a rewarding experience.”

Karthik Reddy, Managing Partner at Blume Ventures and an investor in WebEngage, said, “WebEngage continuously evolves its product offerings based on customer needs. As an investor, we are pleased to see this enhanced focus on data and advisory services. This approach has the potential to revolutionize the use of data for improved customer retention.”

The addition of this experienced team of Data Scientists highlights WebEngage’s commitment to innovation in MarTech. Alongside ongoing product developments, the introduction of a new service model is expected to transform how marketers and business leaders view martech solutions, positioning them as revenue generators rather than just cost centers. The traditional customer success manager role at WebEngage is evolving into an analytics-focused growth consultant capable of analyzing funnels and cohorts and understanding metrics such as Return on Ad Spend (RoAS) and Control Group uplifts.

As WebEngage expands its data and consulting capabilities, clients can anticipate a significant improvement in the quality of insights and the overall impact of new campaigns across various channels, resulting in increased ROI and revenue contribution.
