Personas: Meta’s upcoming AI personalities

With its reported launch in September, it is just a matter of time until almost every single social media platform is powered with an AI assistant

As per numerous reports, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is preparing to introduce its own AI-powered chatbot. Recognising the increasing significance of artificial intelligence (AI), Meta is eager to capitalise on this opportunity and plans to launch its AI chatbot as early as September of this year. These chatbots are designed with unique personalities, to be known as “personas,” with the primary goal of enhancing user engagement and interactions to create a more comprehensive user experience.

These AI chatbots will serve as an innovative search feature, providing personalised recommendations and search results tailored to the preferences of individual users. By mobilising the power of AI, these chatbot “personas” will act as intelligent assistants, offering valuable assistance and support throughout users’ interactions, thereby making their overall experience on the platform more seamless and productive.

The integration of AI-powered chatbots into Meta’s platforms marks a strategic move to stay at the forefront of technological advancements in the digital space by leveraging AI to provide tailored recommendations and search results. However, for personalised results, these AI chatbots need to collect a lot of personal user data and history, which raises privacy and security concerns.

Among the anticipated AI-powered chatbots, there are intriguing rumors circulating about their distinct personalities. Notably, one of these chatbots is said to be capable of replicating the speaking style of the historical icon, Abraham Lincoln. In addition to the Abraham Lincoln-inspired bot, another fascinating rumor suggests the existence of a chatbot designed to emulate a laid-back “surfer” style, themed around holidays. By incorporating such unique features, Meta aims to cater to a diverse range of user preferences and enhance the platform’s appeal to the next level.

The decision to introduce these captivating personas could be seen as part of Meta’s strategic response to its newest competitor, “My AI,” a chatbot offered by Snapchat. Recognising the growing prominence of AI-powered virtual assistants, especially in the social media landscape, Meta appears to be leveraging the potential of these dynamic chatbot personalities to maintain its competitive edge. Another reason for this might be to make up for the setback incurred by Threads in the later weeks post its release.

With its reported launch in September, it is just a matter of time until almost every single social media platform is powered with an AI assistant! The arrival of AI assistants signals a new era of social media interaction, promising to reshape the way we are connected online.
