Pay equity can bridge the gender gap in workplace

Achieving gender equality at work remains an important global goal that businesses around the world are trying to address. Increased focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity or DEI (as these are collectively called internationally) is a welcome change and expected to benefit not only the society at large, but also improve the bottom line of businesses, project several studies.

Gender gap at work continues to remain a major challenge in India as well and the pandemic is expected to further widen the rift. When asked how this gaping divide can be narrowed, 58% of the esteemed delegates attending The Economic Times Women in Tech Summit, opined that pay equity can do the trick, and also amplify women’s voices at work. About 30% of the attendees agreed that encouraging younger generations can reduce the gender divide at work, while around 15% perceived providing mentorship as the right measure to address the issue.
