X Platform considers removing likes and reposts, Elon Musk reveals

Elon Musk shared that his social media venture, X, is contemplating the elimination of displaying likes and reposts on user posts. Speaking at the Morgan Stanley technology, media, and telecom conference, Musk also disclosed that X is on the verge of securing approval for a money transmitter license in New York, marking a significant milestone in its evolution.

Recent reports highlight X’s imminent acquisition of money transmitter licenses in both New York and California, a strategic move toward integrating payment features and transforming into an ‘everything app’ reminiscent of China’s WeChat. The platform, previously recognized as Twitter, aims to enhance user experience by allowing seamless financial transactions, including the capability to send payments to other users.

Securing licenses in various U.S. states is a crucial step in materializing Musk’s vision of an “everything app.” Once granted, these licenses would propel X closer to WeChat’s multifunctionality, aligning with Musk’s strategic direction for the platform since assuming control in 2022.

As part of Musk’s comprehensive vision for the platform, X has also ventured into the job market. On February 28, Musk reshared a post by X Hiring, announcing over a million job postings across diverse industries on the social media site, positioning it as a burgeoning jobs app.
