TCPL GES, a subsidiary of Tata Cummins Private Limited (TCPL), a joint venture between Tata Motors Limited and Cummins Inc. USA, has unveiled a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility aimed at producing hydrogen-based Internal Combustion Engines for Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles, as well as other low to zero-emission technology products in India. The inauguration of this facility underscores the commitment to ushering in a cleaner and more sustainable future for the nation.

Located in Jamshedpur and sprawling across nearly seven acres, this cutting-edge facility boasts top-of-the-line technology and infrastructure. Its establishment within a year of signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State of Jharkhand demonstrates the significant progress made by Tata Motors and Cummins in advancing their decarbonization strategy.

Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, expressed enthusiasm about the opening of the new manufacturing facility, highlighting its potential to shape the future of mobility in India by offering smarter and greener solutions. He emphasized Tata Motors’ commitment to collaborating with customers to embrace emission-free and commercially viable solutions for cargo and people mobility, further solidifying the company’s legacy of nation-building and innovation.

Ashwath Ram, Managing Director of Cummins Group in India, emphasized Cummins’ dedication to delivering advanced low to zero-emissions technology products that drive decarbonization efforts. He underscored the company’s commitment to sustainability and its responsibility to bring forth technological solutions backed by concrete action, leveraging global expertise and strategic partnerships.

The partnership between Tata Motors and Cummins spans three decades through their joint venture, TCPL. The formation of TCPL GES in March 2023 signifies a joint effort to design and develop low and zero-emission propulsion technology solutions for commercial vehicles in India. These solutions aim to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and support India’s net-zero ambitions across various applications.

Aligned with PLANET 2050, Cummins’ long-range business strategy with an environmental focus, the company’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond product development to include the operations of its manufacturing plants.
