OpenAI chasing Google and Meta’s top notch employees, offering them 83 crore packages

OpenAI is aggressively recruiting top talent from rival tech giants like Meta and Google, enticing employees with salaries reaching as high as Rs 83 crore per annum. The company’s aim is to attract the best researchers and top tech resources, particularly for their artificial intelligence chatbot.

According to News 18 reports, it indicates that OpenAI has successfully onboarded at least 93 individuals with prior experience at Google and Meta, showcasing its strategic approach to talent acquisition.

OpenAI has made previous attempts to recruit talent from Google’s upper echelons, specifically targeting senior researchers within Google’s AI teams. The company is offering enticing compensation packages, predominantly in the form of stock, ranging from $5 million to $10 million annually. According to The Information reports, OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, has personally reached out to influential Google AI researchers, making a direct appeal for them to join the ranks of OpenAI.

In the acknowledgments section of OpenAI’s blog post introducing ChatGPT last year, five former Google researchers were prominently mentioned. The Information also reported that OpenAI, led by Sam Altman, has successfully recruited at least 93 individuals with past experience at Google and Meta.

Data from LeadGenius and Punks & Pinstripes indicates that as of February, OpenAI boasted a workforce comprising approximately 59 former Google employees and around 34 former Meta staff, underscoring the company’s strategic talent acquisition approach.
