Honeywell unveils AI-driven software to enhance commercial aerospace operations

Aerospace manufacturers and repair facilities will be able to address unplanned downtime and improve asset management utilizing machine learning

Honeywell launched Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Aerospace, a cloud-based platform infused with AI and machine learning (ML).

This new addition to the Honeywell Forge suite underscores Honeywell’s commitment to the growing trends of automation and the evolving landscape of aviation.

It aims to assist commercial aerospace manufacturing and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities in modernizing their operations and reducing costs through digital transformation.

“In an era marked by rising workplace intricacies and operational expenses, operators must harness data for informed decision-making and embrace automation,” remarked Karen Miller, General Manager of Honeywell Connected Aerospace. “Facing challenges like aging aircraft fleets, escalating maintenance costs, and persistent supply chain issues, Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Aerospace empowers organizations to achieve faster turnarounds, optimize asset use, and cut down on maintenance durations.”

Aerospace manufacturing and MRO sectors encounter various operational and workforce-related obstacles. These organizations often need to enhance operational insight and refine asset management—like swiftly locating assets across sites—while simultaneously reducing operational expenses. Moreover, many grapple with fragmented data, making it challenging to manage their businesses efficiently due to the intricate nature of assets, facilities, and workforces.

“Modern aerospace firms aim to boost operational efficiency and gain clearer asset visibility. However, disjointed and manual processes hinder progress,” noted Michael Rowe, Vice President of Aerospace & Defense at Frost & Sullivan, a prominent industry research firm. “For instance, a compact MRO team might face over 1,200 pending maintenance tasks. Rather than tackling the seemingly simpler tasks first, software solutions like Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Aerospace enable companies to prioritize tasks with the most significant operational impact, enhancing productivity and reducing costly downtime.”

Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Aerospace integrates predictive maintenance, site optimization, and workforce analytics into a unified solution.

In the pipeline, Honeywell plans to enhance Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Aerospace by incorporating FedRAMP, a defense-compliant version of the platform tailored to the specific needs of the defense industry.
