With a steadfast commitment to innovation and inclusivity, Haryana stands at the forefront of transformative change in healthcare, technical education, and the broader educational landscape.

Haryana stands as a beacon of commitment to the well-being of its citizens. Guided by the age-old mantra ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramayah’ which translates to ‘May all be happy, may all be free from disease’, the Haryana Government has been tirelessly working to transform the healthcare landscape of the state. All district hospitals in Haryana are undergoing upgrades to meet national standards. The plan is to prioritize quality and accessibility.

Significant advancements in health infrastructure

In the span of nine years, Haryana, under the leadership of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal, has showcased an impressive evolution in its healthcare infrastructure. Civil Hospitals in urban regions grew by 28.6 per cent, from 56 in 2014-15 to 72 in 2022-23, signifying an enhanced focus on urban healthcare. Meanwhile, rural healthcare received a considerable boost, with the number of Community Health Centres (CHCs) rising by 11 per cent, from 109 to 121, highlighting the state’s commitment to bridging the rural-urban healthcare gap. Primary Health Centres (PHCs), pivotal in providing basic healthcare, saw an increment of 13.7 per cent, increasing from 466 to 530. This development underscores the state’s aim to amplify grassroots healthcare reach. The number of Sub Health Centres (SHCs), which are vital for community health, modestly grew by 3.8 per cent, expanding from 2,630 to 2,729. This progression represents the state’s intent to ensure that even the most remote areas have access to fundamental healthcare services.

Revolutionizing healthcare through AYUSH initiatives

The Haryana government is committed to strengthening the AYUSH sector. In May 2023, the state implemented the AYUSH Medical Reimbursement Policy, extending reimbursement benefits for AYUSH treatments to government employees, pensioners, and their dependents.

Furthermore, significant investments have been made in infrastructure development, with the establishment of institutions like Shri Krishna Ayush University and the National Institute of Ayurveda. Additionally, Integrated AYUSH Hospitals and Government Ayurvedic Colleges/Hospitals have been constructed across various districts.

Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, the state has upgraded numerous AYUSH dispensaries to Health and Wellness Centres, enhancing primary healthcare delivery. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the AYUSH Department played a pivotal role by distributing immunity-boosting medicines and Coronil kits to home isolation patients, demonstrating its unwavering dedication to public health.

Haryana’s healthcare and medical education leap

Haryana government ambitious vision aims to establish a medical college in each district of the state. Presently, six government medical colleges operate across the state, with three more under construction and plans for additional colleges in progress. MBBS and postgraduate seats have substantially increased, alongside growth in dental, physiotherapy, nursing, and para-medical education.

An unprecedented budget boost of approximately 10,000 crores is dedicated to constructing 12 new medical colleges, expanding MBBS seat capacity by 75%. To strengthen the medical education infrastructure further, a dedicated Department of Medical Education and Research has been instituted to focus on the enhancement, expansion, and regulation of medical education and research across Haryana. The department plays a crucial role in overseeing the quality of education provided by various medical, dental, Ayush, nursing, and paramedical institutions in the state.

With a commendable placement rate of 74% for eligible students across Polytechnic Institutions, the state reaffirms its commitment to student success and industry relevance. Transformative educational reforms for a brighter future

Haryana’s education sector has witnessed significant advancements. The e-learning scheme, launched in May 2022, ensured continuous learning for students during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, with provisions for doubt resolution and access to educational resources.

Aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, Haryana has set ambitious targets to implement the policy fully by 2025.
