A roadmap to employee excellence through innovation and engagement

Human capital plays a pivotal role. It is all about skills, abilities, dedication, and positive attitude of workforce. When organizations understand and accept this complexity, they can make the most of their employees, adjust to changes, and find ongoing success.

In the past three years, there have been monumental shifts in business requirements driven by emerging technologies and evolving trends. During this time, we have tailored our management team to actively adjust our strategic initiatives that align with these changes, aiming to enhance business value and employee engagement. Achieving this requires us to approach employee engagement from four key dimensions- creating purpose, amplifying employee voices, nurturing a learning culture, and fostering career growth.

Creating Purpose:

It is important to infuse purpose into every facet of an organization, but it is one that can pay off in many ways. By enabling every member of the organization to connect with the company’s overarching mission, employees are more likely to feel engaged, motivated, and fulfilled in their work. Additionally, providing platforms for learning, sharing, and employee feedback can help to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. 

Following are some of the noteworthy things our company adopted to cultivate this sense of purpose: 

Ubiquitous Leadership: We realized the need to drive Leadership skills across the organization to set and practice a shared lexicon of inspiring leadership skills and traits. Programs were developed and delivered for all levels of the organization.

Women Empowerment: Amplifying and enriching the rich women’s talent pool is vital in creating a power-packed women’s workforce. To achieve this, we developed many programs and dedicated forums. We created a forum called POWER (Power of Women Empowerment at Ramco) to foster active participation, idea-sharing, and the pursuit of excellence among women at Ramco.

Socially Responsible: Embracing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) encourages employees to contribute to community well-being. Engaging in community service projects, mentorship programs, and supporting non-profits and charities is actively endorsed. Employees participating in volunteer activities are also granted paid time off or the opportunity to organize group volunteering events.

Amplifying Employee Voices: Empowering workforce through amplified voices cultivates a culture of innovation and inclusivity, where fresh ideas flourish, and collective growth thrives.

Listening and Transforming Together: We believe in the power of active listening to our employees. Our Employee Engagement Pulse check stands as a testament to this commitment. By valuing their insights on alignment with our organizational vision and the work environment’s role in fostering innovation and excellence, the programs designed help enhance employee experience. This dynamic process empowers workforce and drives continuous improvement, ensuring that their voices resonate at the heart of our journey toward excellence.

“The Investors”: This intrapreneurial initiative ignites innovation by soliciting groundbreaking ideas from employees to enhance our products, systems, processes, and customer satisfaction. We aimed to channel ideas that drive growth and acknowledge employees for contributing to the company. Periodic hackathons contributed to the furthering of the idea’s employees have.

Enhanced Rewards Mechanism: Reimaging rewards program and including peer-to-peer and cross-functional recognition. A digital transformation of the rewards mechanism ensures timely recognition, retains significance, and positively reinforces desired behaviour.

Nurturing a Learning Culture

Nurturing a learning culture is paramount in today’s fast-paced business landscape. Organisations empower employees to adapt, innovate, and drive growth by fostering an environment where curiosity thrives, and skills are continually honed. This commitment to lifelong learning enhances individual career trajectories and fuels collective innovation, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of industry advancements.

Ramco Corp University: We created a centralized learning function aligned with our business goals and drive capability upliftment of our employees.

Personal Development Plan: We ensure every employee has a clear developmental plan aligned to their career path. They have access to learning opportunities that bolster their skills and career advancement.

Knowledge Exchange: We created knowledge exchanges where SMEs share knowledge and mentor aspirants. Through these forums employees have access to knowledge and access to SME’s when they need them.

Fostering Career Growth:

Fostering career growth is pivotal for engaging employees and driving organizational achievement. A clear path to advancement and development not only boosts individual capabilities but also enhances overall performance, cultivating a dedicated workforce aligned with the company’s success.
