‘Digital India Experience Zone’: India’s latest addition to the G20 Summit

The Digital Experience Zone employs cutting-edge technologies, each crafted to resonate with the target audience

As per PIB, a new key addition has been incorporated into the 18th G20 Summit to be held on the 9th and 10th of September at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) recently conducted the meetings of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) where a discussion on how to shape the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) was on the agenda. This included demonstrating the impact of the DPIs on Indian society.

This demonstration aims to provide a hands-on experience for all the delegates attending the G20 Summit on DPI and the success of the overall digital transformation across India. There will also be a release by the G20 Indian presidency of two informative products – ‘Accelerating the SDGs through DPI’ and ‘The DPI Playbook,’ which will guide other countries in their digital transformation journey, akin to India.

The new state-of-the-art addition, known as the Digital India Experience Zone, will encompass cutting-edge technology, providing insights into India’s initiatives that have spearheaded the country’s digital journey. Among others, seven major initiatives have been selected to be showcased at the meeting, namely: Aadhaar, Unified Payment Interface (UPI), DigiLocker, DIKSHA, Bhashini, ONDC, and eSanjeevani.

Not only the above-mentioned initiatives but a live demonstration of Aadhar Face Authentication Software will also be showcased, enabling attendees to interact with the presented technology. Moreover, a UPI exhibit will help visitors understand the applications of UPI worldwide. It doesn’t end here – to rightfully encompass the essence of the digitally empowered to meet and greet, visitors can scan QR codes to initiate transactions entitled to a nominal payment.

Attendees will also have the chance to understand the ‘practical’ utility of India’s DigiLocker, showcasing how it has ensured feasibility across various sectors such as education, finance and banking, travel, transport, real estate, legal, and judiciary. As for eSanjeevani, doctors from various domains, namely, Cardiology, Mental Health, Ophthalmology, and General Medicine will be present at the meeting, providing the visitors with real-time health analysis accompanied by an e-prescription.

The DIKSHA exhibit will allow visitors to explore educational resources. The Bhashini exhibit, on the other hand, will enable visitors to experience a real-time speech-to-speech translation in not only all Indian languages but also in the 6 UN languages i.e., Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. Last but not least, the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) will allow visitors to understand how the exhibit collaborates with sellers, customers, and network providers on a large scale.
