Elon Musk expresses confidence in Tesla's future in India during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As part of his historic three-day state visit to the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Tesla CEO and Twitter founder Elon Musk yesterday. After the encounter, Musk told reporters, “I’m a fan of Modi.”
“The meeting with the prime minister was wonderful, and I really like the man. He came to our factory a few years ago. Therefore, we have been acquainted for some time,” Musk stated. “I am tremendously optimistic about India’s future. India, in my opinion, offers the greatest potential of any large nation on earth.
The Prime Minister first met Musk in 2015 while touring the California plant of Tesla Motors.
When questioned about a timetable for Tesla’s arrival in India, Musk responded, “I am confident Tesla will be there as soon as possible.”
“PM Modi really cares about India because he’s encouraging us to invest heavily there. We just need to determine the best timing,” the Twitter CEO continued. “He genuinely wants to act in India’s best interests. He wants to be transparent and helpful to businesses. Naturally, you should also see to it that India benefits from it,” Musk stated.
Musk was questioned about the automaker’s interest in the Indian market during an interview with The Wall Street Journal, to which he replied in the affirmative.
Regarding his meeting with Musk, the PM tweeted, “Great meeting you today @elonmusk! We had multifaceted conversations on issues ranging from energy to spirituality.” To this, Musk replied, “It was an honour to meet again.”

The Prime Minister praised Musk’s initiative to increase the affordability and accessibility of technology across a range of industries. He extended an invitation to Musk to look into potential investment prospects in India’s commercial space and electric vehicle industries.
