Guyana’s PM extols India’s leadership at ET NOW Global Business Summit 2024

Speaking passionately at the recent prestigious ET NOW Global Business Summit 2024, Brigadier Mark Anthony Phillips, the Prime Minister of the small South American nation of Guyana, effusively praised India’s bold leadership in sustainable development and its immense contributions to tackling pressing global challenges.

In his animated speech, PM Phillips expressed his “profound gratitude to the visionary organizers for providing me with this momentous opportunity to address such a distinguished gathering of business luminaries and thought leaders from across the world.”

He enthusiastically noted that “India positively leads the way in renewable clean energy” and is “unanimously recognized across the world as the pharmacy hub supplying high-quality, low-cost medicines and vaccines.”

The Guyanese leader highlighted with pride that “against this remarkable backdrop, there cannot be a serious conversation about global business in today’s world without including this massive and progressive state filled with vibrant entrepreneurs and dynamic businesses – India!” He went on to say, “I wholeheartedly thank the far-sighted organizers for leading the charge in championing this timely dialogue about global business in a disruptive world and inviting all of us here to actively participate in these solution-oriented discussions.”

“As we deeply consider the profoundly relevant conference theme – ‘Disruption, Development, Diversification’ – it resonates deeply and could not be more timely as we collectively seek innovative solutions and strategies to achieve these crucial objectives towards an equitable, sustainable and prosperous future for all global citizens,” Phillips passionately remarked.

He animatedly cited real-world examples like India’s widely acclaimed vaccine maitri initiative providing millions of COVID vaccine doses globally and disruptions to fragile food supply chains catalyzing Guyana to enhance regional food and nutrition security.

Phillips added with conviction: “This unique global platform allows experts and thought leaders worldwide to collectively deliberate in a solution-oriented manner on innovative ideas and creative strategies for proactively navigating the complex challenges and opportunities shaping the global business landscape in these disruptive, turbulent times.”

On the warm India and Guyana bilateral ties, the Prime Minister stated emotionally: “In the ethnic makeup of our beloved country Guyana, over 40% of our population comes from Indian descent. We continue to profoundly share timeless values, an unshakable commitment to social progress, and building an equitable world where no one is left behind.”

In conclusion, PM Phillips strongly affirmed Guyana’s ambitious commitment to environmental sustainability and broad-based inclusive growth for all, saying: “It is tremendously encouraging and inspiring to see India’s bold leadership and its deep, practical dedication to sustainable development goals, a noble cause that powerfully resonates with Guyana’s own passionate commitment to environmental stewardship and leaving no one behind through inclusive growth policies.”
