Chandrayaan-3 soars towards the moon after successful TransLunar Injection on August 1!

The TLI was performed successfully from ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru, India on Aug 1, 2023.

In the latest news of India’s expedition to the moon, Chandrayaan 3 successfully enters the final phase of its 40-day journey to the moon, marking an ambitious step in India’s lunar exploration journey. The lunar mission saw a successful launch from Satish Dhawan Space Centre on July 14, 2023. The Translunar Injection is a critical stage in the mission as it propels the spacecraft out of the gravitational pull of the Earth and projects it on track for a 5-day journey to the Moon.

The ambitious Chandrayaan-3’s approximate 40-day expedition to the moon has been meticulously divided into three distinct phases: the Earth-centric phase, the lunar transfer phase, and the moon-centric phase.

ISRO has outlined the key objectives of Chandrayaan-3’s ambitious Lunar mission viz. to conduct a successful and precise Soft Landing on the Lunar Surface, ensuring the safe arrival of the spacecraft on the Moon’s terrain; demonstrate the capabilities of a Lunar Rover, allowing it to traverse and explore the lunar landscape, gather valuable data and conduct cutting-edge in-situ scientific experiments on the Moon’s surface, enabling the collection of crucial data; and enhancing our understanding of the lunar environment and its resources.

With the successful TLI of Chandrayaan 3, the spacecraft is now out of the gravitational pull of the Earth and enters the final phase of the lunar expedition. The soft landing on the moon’s surface is planned on August 23, 2023, at 5:47 pm as stated by ISRO Chairman, S Somanath, to PTI.
