Apple’s first India store inaugurated in Mumbai

Apple has inaugurated its first Indian retail shop in Mumbai today, Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, arrived in India to launch the exclusive shop at Bandra Kurla Complex.

Apple CEO Tim Cook opened the doors of Apple’s first India store, which is located in a mall in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) business zone, at 11 a.m. The 25-year presence of Apple commenced with the selling of products and services through partners in India.  On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, Apple opened the country’s first retail shop in Mumbai.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, opened the doors of the shop in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) business sector at 11 a.m. to greet the first customers.

Cook opened the doors of the shop to stroll into a packed lobby and pose for the media. He was dressed in a black t-shirt and grey trousers and was joined by the company’s Senior Vice President for Retail, Deirdre O’Brien. Cook greeted around a dozen customers for seven minutes before returning to the shop, while the tech giant’s 100-odd staff and corporate officials from across the world celebrated.

The launching of the Apple store coincides with the company’s 25th anniversary in India. On Thursday, April 20, 2023, an Apple shop in Delhi’s Saket is slated to open. Apple has big aspirations for India, including a stronger app developer ecosystem, a focus on sustainability, community programmes in various areas, and localised manufacturing. They aim to provide their customers with sustainable and cutting-edge goods.

The store is completely designed to operate on energy efficient and non-conventional fuel resources and is India’s first ever Apple store to do so.
