Tata Consumer to buy Bisleri for about 7,000 crore: Report

As part of the agreement, the current management will continue for two years, according to a report

Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (TCPL) is set to acquire Bisleri International, the Economic Times reported on Thursday, citing Bisleri chairman, Ramesh Chauhan. The value of the transaction is reported to be between Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 7,000 crore.

Although it lost popular soft drink brands like Thums Up, Gold Spot, and Limca to Coca-Cola in the 1990s, Bisleri still dominates the country’s bottled water market.

The report also stated that the 82-year-old chairman of Bisleri, Ramesh Chauhan, has not been in great health recently and that his daughter Jayanti is not particularly interested in the business. The decision to sell the stock was made in order to find a suitable successor to take Bisleri to the next level of its expansion, the report added.
