Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that the world is currently witnessing the golden age of artificial intelligence, which is radically transforming the world by redefining work and business. Artificial intelligence will devise new innovative ways for people to connect, he said. In conversation with Klaus Schwab, the Indian-origin CEO hailed the new AI tools like ChatGPT and remarked that such technologies help people perform more tasks with less effort. ChatGPT, a chatbot that recently received a 10 million dollar investment from Microsoft, has roped in 1 million users in 5 days after its release.
Hyderabad-born Nadella further stated that Microsoft intends on becoming the leader in quantum computing as it already has all the technology and resources required at its disposal. While addressing the issue of cybersecurity, Nadella stated, “Digital Technology has become much more pervasive in our lives. Cybersecurity issues are on the rise. We have developed end-to-end infrastructure in Microsoft to counter this. It’s an intelligence game and we are taking it and using it actively.” He further suggested that people should use cloud to tackle the problem while governments should modernise their infrastructure.
While covering the issues of sustainable business practices, the Microsoft CEO said, “We are doing a lot to ensure that our house is in order. We are working on the Xbox to reduce its energy footprint. We need to understand where we can make a real difference around carbon accounting. In Europe, banks will now look at the carbon footprints of companies before giving loans. We want to take 250 years of chemistry and compress it to 25 years.”
