Gender Equality Matters – In Conversation with Anita Bhatia

Assistant Secretary-General and UN Women’s Deputy Executive Director for Resource Management, UN System Coordination, Sustainability and Partnerships at the United Nations

“We expect 43 million more women worldwide to fall into poverty in the coming year, as a result of the pandemic”

An overpowering  setback to gender parity worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic underscores society’s dependency on women both on the front line and at home. Women and girls were rendered the most vulnerable, facing disproportionate inequalities across every sphere, from health to security, workplace to social protection with far reaching consequences in context of instability, divergence, and tragedies.

Anita Bhatia, Assistant Secretary-General and UN Women’s Deputy Executive Director for Resource Management, UN System Coordination, Sustainability and Partnerships at the United Nations takes us through the regressive effect of the pandemic on gender equality and the urgent need for ESGs to be more women centric.
