MitKat Special Report – COVID-19 Vaccination Drive in India

India has begun one of the world’s largest vaccination drive from 16 January 2021 as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Out of the four main contenders for the COVID-19 vaccine in India, the Drug Controller General of India has granted AstraZeneca’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin emergency use authorisation. Despite assurances from the authorities, misleading information has been circulating about the safety of the trials conducted as well as the well-being of the participants in a short span of less than a year.

As India progresses towards launching its Mass COVID-19 Vaccination Drive, MitKat’s Special Report looks at the entire vaccination process while highlighting important issues at hand, likely to evolve in the near future.
