Journey of Excellence: Building Sustainable & Profitable Growth

During the last year, COVID-19 posed a lot of challenges for businesses. But, we came together as a team and overcome those challenges successfully by implementing various initiatives. On the Front end, we focused on Digital Marketing to improve brand awareness, launched Paperless Warranty System for hassle-free customer service and conducted free battery checkup camps at societies during the lockdown wherein the vehicles were stranded for 3 months. Our efforts in connecting with customers helped to enhance the brand image of the company. On Back-end, we developed a mobile application called ‘We Care’ for automated health monitoring of employees to avoid the risk of COVID-19 inside company premises. Safety is paramount to all of us, hence we developed the mobile application ‘BSafe’ for Digitization of Safety Walk & 5S. Being a part of Tata Group, we always believe in ‘Giving back to the Society’. We provided support to various communities like supporting girls’ orphanages with education equipment, and oxygen concentrators to Guru Nanak Hospital & Gurudwara in Pune, a Sanitation facility for the villagers near our manufacturing facility & administrative support to an old orphanage.

With all these leading efforts, we won accolades & recognitions from leading industry bodies like CII, ACMA, ISQ & many others. We have also been awarded with a prestigious award ‘Commendation for Significant Achievement in Corporate Excellence’ from CII-ITC center of Excellence for Sustainable development.

Innovation & Operational Excellence

Given our parentage of both GS-YUASA and Tata, we lay increasingly high emphasis on innovation. Our batteries are superior in performance even in extreme weather conditions. Tata Green Batteries was the first to launch a battery, which could go 1,00,000 kilometers without a top-up. The patented additives allow us to offer Batteries which not only last the longest but also give the best mileage. Likewise, our distinct technical expertise in Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) technology has helped us in offering the finest battery for two-wheeler applications in India. Further, with the cutting-edge technology of GS YUASA and the global customer relationship of both JV partners, we are able to offer new products to these OEMs in the shortest time.  This has helped us in becoming a preferred supplier to most OEMs. We also adopt Japanese practices such as Kaizen, Jishu Hozen, Daily Work Management, Poka-yoke and Quality Circles. These practices help to manufacture batteries with world-class quality. The company has also started embarking upon its Deming Journey.

The industry trends are changing rapidly. Hence, we always take cognizance of the changing technology and have prepared ourselves to be early adopters. Tata Green Batteries has the latest technology for making advanced batteries through Expanded Grid Technology, which will also help in showcasing Idle Start Stop Batteries subsequently. Our aim is to have full technology play in all segments and verticals of the automotive battery sector. The company is also gearing up to adopt and offer Li-Ion Technology to the Indian market at an appropriate time.
