The world’s best airlines for 2023: Which Indian carriers make the cut?

At this year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards, widely referred to as the Oscars of the aviation industry, Star Alliance was named the World’s Best Airline Alliance.

The renowned Alliance lounge in Los Angeles has continued to hold the title of World’s Best Airline Alliance Lounge for the seventh consecutive year. Theo Panagiotoulias, CEO of Star Alliance, accepted the honours during a ceremony conducted during the Paris Air Show.

Singapore Airlines took the crown as the world’s best airline for the fifth time, with Qatar Airways as the runner-up.

The only two airlines from India that are included in a list of the top 100 airlines worldwide are Vistara and IndiGo. Vistara has moved up four spaces from 20th place in 2022 to 16th place this year, while IndiGo has moved up two spots from 45th place to 43rd place. Skytrax presented its top 100 airlines with awards.

According to Skytrax’s World Airline Awards, Vistara placed 19th out of 20 names on the list of the “World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew 2023.” On the list of the top 10 airlines in Asia, Vistara also claimed the eighth position.

For the second consecutive time, the airline was included in a list of the top 20 airlines by Skytrax. It received recognition as the third consecutive year’s “Best Airline in India and South Asia,” the fifth consecutive year for “Best Airline Staff in India and South Asia,” the third consecutive year for “Best Cabin Crew in India and South Asia,” and the second consecutive year for “Best Business Class Airline in India and South Asia.” Additionally, it got 20th place in the category of “World’s Best Inflight Entertainment 2023.”

The World Airline Awards received votes from travellers of 100 different nations from all around the world, totaling 20.23 million votes cast between September 2022 and May 2023.
