Maruti Suzuki’s production to increase as company lines up funds

Maruti Suzuki's production amps up as the company releases plans to aggressively invest 5.5 billion dollars to reach their production goals.

In recent news, Maruti Suzuki’s production will likely see an increase as the company pours more funds into manufacturing. India’s largest carmaker is on the way to investing 5.5 billion dollars to boost their production to four million vehicles per year by the end of 2030.

According to ET, India’s largest carmaker took this step in order to increase its local market share. Apart from this, several people aware of the company’s plans stated that with the increase in funds and the subsequent boost in production, the company plans to be the biggest exporter of vehicles in India. Maruti Suzuki’s market share saw losses when it went down to 43.5 percent in September 2023. The automaker hopes to recover from the losses. ET cites that the automobile company plans to invest more than 5.5 billion dollars i.e., more than 45000 crore rupees in eight of their commissioned lines in the new facilities. This funding would help them produce 250000 units from each of the new facilities.

Maruti Suzuki was the largest exporter of passenger vehicles (PV) in India for the year 2023. It’s the second year in a row that the automobile company has achieved this feat. Maruti Suzuki is planning to gain stability in their market share by releasing new launches, especially SUVs that are growing in demand. With this step, they also plan to expand locally and overseas.

Maruti Suzuki’s production will increase as the company aggressively invests in boosting its production rates. Kenichi Ayukawa, MD, and CEO at Maruti Suzuki, speaks of the collaboration and acknowledges the long-term association that they have cherished with the Indian government. Ayukawa notes that long-term investments and governmental support are crucial for the automobile industry. He thanks the Indian government for their consistent support.
