India’s Vaccine Diplomacy: Special MitKat Report

The global pandemic COVID-19 has marked a defining global health crisis. Since its emergence in China in December 2019, the virus has spread to every continent except Antarctica. In terms of numbers, the World Bank has projected a USD 110 billion decline in remittances in 2020, which essentially means that 800 million people were not able to meet their basic needs.

As COVID-19 paves the way ahead for a new normal, the global health pandemic has proven to be more than just a health crisis with far-reaching and long-lasting socio-economic consequences impacting even the most economically developed countries of the world.

As the vaccine against COVID-19 slowly starts reaching different parts of the world, India, a country which soon came to be known as a hotspot of the virus has been seen manufacturing and distributing vaccines across the world. MitKat’s Special Report explores how the vaccine has fared as a tool for Indian diplomacy.
