Grand Pran Pratishtha marks culmination of Ram Mandir construction in Ayodhya

Shri Ram Mandir: The temple's structural design boasts earthquake resilience, capable of withstanding tremors of magnitude 8 on the Richter scale for an astounding 2,500 years

Ayodhya, the sacred city entwined with the legacy of Lord Ram, is set to witness a historic moment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi participates in the grand Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the newly constructed Ram Mandir today January 22. The ceremony, scheduled to commence at 12:20 pm and conclude around 1 pm, is a culmination of years of dedicated effort, merging traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge scientific expertise.

The construction of the Shri Ram Mandir has been a collaborative effort, with technical assistance from four prominent National Institutes under CSIR (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research) and DST (Department of Science & Technology), alongside inputs from institutions like IITs and ISRO. Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted that the main temple, an impressive structure measuring 360 ft in length, 235 ft in width, and 161 ft in height, is constructed entirely of sandstone from Bansi Pahadpur, Rajasthan, with no use of cement, iron, or steel. The temple’s structural design boasts earthquake resilience, capable of withstanding tremors of magnitude 8 on the Richter scale for an astounding 2,500 years.

“CSIR-CBRI Roorkee has been involved in the construction of Ram Mandir since early stages. The Institute has contributed towards Structural Design of the main temple, designing Surya Tilak mechanism, design vetting of temple foundation, and Structural Health Monitoring of the main temple,” stated Dr. Jitendra Singh.
