Rishi Sunak is poised to become the first non-white Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after it became apparent that Sunak was much ahead of his rivals and that former prime minister Boris Johnson had stepped out of the election. As soon as it was announced that Rishi Sunak would succeed Liz Truss as Prime Minister, the pound rose in value relative to the dollar.
Earlier, on Sunday, Sunak said on his official Twitter account that if he becomes the next prime minister of Britain, he will “deliver” by fixing the economy.

Rishi Sunak was born in the United Kingdom to Indian-born physician father Yashvir and pharmacist mother Usha. After working for Goldman Sachs for three years, Sunak went on to earn an MBA from Stanford University in California, where he also met his future wife, Akshata Murthy, daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy. He married Akshata in 2009, and the couple has two daughters.
