Google’s generative AI – Chatbot Bard to roll out in 180 countries, including India

You have probably heard of ChatGPT, but what about the upcoming Google's generative AI Chatbot, Bard? Set to be a competition, experts outline how and why Bard differs from OpenAI's ChatGPT.

What is Bard?

Set to launch soon, Bard is Google’s generative AI that develops human-like text responses to varied requests using machine learning and natural language processing techniques. The model is intended to emulate the style and organisation of human writing. To do this, Bard is trained on a vast text-based data set and uses a deep neural network architecture known as transformers to learn linguistic patterns, recognise the context of the input text, and provide a suitable output.

Bard’s capacity to create creative writing has the potential to generate website material or social media postings, therefore, saving up time for content authors to focus on higher-level duties. Furthermore, because Bard can create output in different languages and styles, it may be used as a tool for language learners to learn any language.

How does Bard work?

Bard, Google’s upcoming generative AI, is a deep neural network that analyses and interprets specific patterns in a huge text data set. Then, depending on the prior analysis, Bard creates a fresh and original text output. Google’s generative AI is built on a neural network architecture known as “transformers.”

Transformers are made up of layers that process the incoming text in a hierarchical order. Each layer builds on the preceding one to extract increasingly complicated textual information. To produce text, Bard initially accepts a prompt (or seed text) as input. The early layers of the transformer process the incoming text and obtain information on the grammar and structure of the text. This information is then used by the transformer to build a probability distribution over the various words or phrases that might follow the input text.

Applications of Bard-

  • Content generation
  • Creative writing
  • Marketing & Advertising, etc

Google’s first-ever language model- PaLM (Pathways Language Model)

Google is offering developers access to one of its most advanced AI language models: PaLM. The search giant is launching a Google PaLM API, alongside several AI enterprise tools which will help businesses generate text, images, code, videos, audio, and more from simple natural language prompts.

PaLM is a large language model, or LLM, like the ChatGPT series created by OpenAI or Meta’s LLaMA family of models. Google first announced PaLM in April 2022. Like other LLMs, PaLM is a flexible system that can potentially carry out all sorts of text generation and editing tasks. You could train PaLM to be a conversational chatbot that can be used for tasks like summarizing text or even writing code.

For many years, Google has been investing in AI and delivering its advantages to consumers, organisations, and communities. Whether it is publishing cutting-edge research, creating useful products, or creating tools and resources to aid others, and they are dedicated to making AI accessible to everyone. Google’s generative AI, Bard, aspires to bring together the richness of the world’s information with the strength, intelligence, and creativity of our massive language models.
