Future of Urban Mobility: Digital, Green and Sustainable

The mobility landscape is undergoing tectonic shifts globally. COVID-19 has shown us that we need a reset from the normal, such as the crowded public transport, overwhelming traffic congestion and shrinking green spaces.
Indian cities will need to be built on the foundations of people-friendly streets, that encourage walking and cycling, as well as agile public and shared transport systems. Zero emissions, greater accessibility and cost effectiveness will increasingly become the norm, rather than differentiators.

Next generation mobile technologies, smart cities and the Internet of Things (IoT) offer potentially massive opportunities, but significant challenges too. Smart cities and the IoT are driving this transformation and will change the telecommunications landscape forever. Underpinning this revolution are the rapidly evolving connectivity technologies as we march towards the promised land of ubiquitous, seamless connectivity, for both people and machines.

Smart mobility offers a vision of seamless, integrated urban transport, with the added benefits of efficient resource management, greater cost savings and better air quality. The government, in conjunction with the private sector, has been working to implement innovative initiatives such as the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). Simultaneously, the electric vehicle (EV) space is seeing a flurry of activity in alternative fuels
