Fever FM shuts down temporarily; reinvents itself as ‘Fever Happening Hai!’

HT Media's renowned radio station adapts to changing trends, bids farewell to old radio identity

In a significant move within the media landscape, Fever FM, owned by Hindustan Times, has ceased operations, marking the end of the Old Radio era. The radio station, previously known for its tag “FM,” has now rebranded itself as ‘Fever Happening Hai!’ in response to the evolving dynamics of the industry.

In a video shared on LinkedIn on Tuesday, Ramesh Menon, the CEO of Fever FM, announced the station’s closure, citing the evolving trends in the media industry as the reason behind this difficult decision. He expressed gratitude to radio jockeys, advertisers, employees, and loyal listeners for their unwavering support throughout the years.

In its official statement, Fever FM reflected on the journey shared with its audience, remarking, “Radio has been a part of your journey, figuratively and literally. Everyday. But as they say, all journeys must come to an end and the end for Radio is closer than you expect.” The station acknowledged the support of its partners and listeners through various phases but emphasised the necessity of this decision for all stakeholders.

In a recent LinkedIn video posted on Wednesday, Ramesh Menon presented Fever FM’s new avatar, emphasising the demise of the Old Radio era. Despite the initial shock among Fever FM fans, Menon revealed the station’s bold transformation, stating, “But we didn’t stop there! We cranked up the volume and gave Fever a bold, new look. Say hello to the revitalised Fever in its refreshed avatar – Happening Hai!”

Founded in 2006 in New Delhi, the Fever Network boasted a listenership of over 31 million. It comprised four distinct radio stations – Fever 104 FM, Punjabi Fever, Radio Nasha, and Radio One, catering to audiences in over 15 cities across India, including major metropolitan hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
