Balancing the power equation in leadership

Only a very small portion of people, including those in politics, businesses, and society, are women.

Women are powerful change-makers, and diversity and gender parity in leadership and decision-making are recognised in more and more fields of endeavour. In spite of this, only a very small portion of people, including those in politics, businesses, and society, are women. Here are some thoughts that prominent leaders expressed at the Global Business Summit 2023:

Rekha Sharma

“I would not say the shift in power but women demanding their rightful rights. When we talk about a power shift, power doesn’t mean going to work, it means even if she is earning or being home, she has a say and make a choice of her own. But this is changing as the mindset is evolving. This is a real shift in power change.”

Arundhati Bhattacharya

“There is a big opportunity to ensure balance. I think it’s a long journey. On that journey, it is important to involve all stakeholders be they, women, or men. The balance is important.”

Ritu Beri

“It’s not a gender thing but more of a personal thing. When I started in 1990, as a designer for a long time my peers would relate my success to my looks. We as women, need to empower ourselves and make our voices heard at workplaces as well as homemakers.”

Sudha Reddy

“The challenges faced by women in Indian society are self-explanatory. I have developed skills that have helped me navigate through the challenges and make a mark in the industry. I believe in never stop learning and challenging myself.”

Vidya Basarkod

“If you have the merit, competency, and desire to perform, the change in power will give long-term results. The most eligible and qualified person should be holding the power.”
