Surpassing challenges: How PSA BDP is creating sustainable and inclusive supply chains

Pavithran M Kallada, MD, PSA BDP shares strategies for supply chain resilience.

Pavithran M Kallada, Managing Director of Indian Subcontinent at PSA BDP, recently engaged in a discussion with ET EDGE Insights, shedding light on the role of supply chains as enablers in economic growth and leadership in uncertain situations.

PSA BDP, known for delivering innovative and sustainable cargo solutions for global supply chains, emphasized the critical importance of supply chains in today’s business landscape.

Supply chains, once relegated to operational discussions, have now ascended to the boardroom as organizations grapple with mounting pressures and uncertainties.

Pavithran emphasized the necessity for enterprises to adapt and build resilience amidst these challenges, positioning themselves effectively in an ever-changing environment.

Reflecting on recent trends, Pavithran highlighted a normalization in global air and ocean freights over the past few months. This normalization signifies a stabilization in logistics operations, albeit against the backdrop of ongoing uncertainties.

Moreover, the digitalization of supply chains has gained momentum, with a growing interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential impact. Customers, meanwhile, are increasingly demanding visibility into their supply chains, driving the need for enhanced transparency and tracking mechanisms.

Another significant focus area highlighted by Pavithran is sustainability, which has taken center stage for businesses globally. He views these evolving dynamics not only as challenges but also as opportunities for growth and innovation within the industry.

To address these challenges and leverage opportunities, PSA BDP has developed in-house technological solutions such as the Smart Navigator and Risk Monitor. These tools aim to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks across supply chain operations.

In terms of sustainability initiatives, PSA BDP has made strategic investments, including the adoption of e-trucks powered by renewable energy. This initiative not only aligns with environmental sustainability goals but also offers customers the means to reduce carbon emissions, contributing to a greener supply chain ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Pavithran believes that India will play a pivotal role in driving global growth. Leveraging the combined strengths and diverse product portfolio of PSA BDP, the company aims to innovate and create products tailored to meet the evolving needs of the market.
