The CEO elaborated in a tweet that the feature of encrypting direct messages will safeguard user privacy. Further explaining the additional features, Musk tweets that users will be able to DM reply to any message in a Twitter thread with more options in emojis.
Moreover, Musk is enthusiastic about introducing video calling and voice chat with any user on the platform. This feature, according to Musk, will enable users to stay connected with others without giving away their personal contact details.
Musk wants to change the trajectory of the Twitter App and hopes to make it a super app and not just a social media app. Musk cites that he wants to model Twitter into a super app like how WeChat operates in China. The billionaire has made repeated claims about how he wishes to spearhead the concept of a super app in the States. Musk reportedly is of the opinion that the Twitter acquisition will speed up the development of a Super app within the next few years.
The new features on the microblogging site will allow users to have a seamless experience on the app coupled with the billionaire’s vision of changing Twitter into a super App. Musk is hopeful that his grand vision will witness fruition in the next 3 to 5 years as he already has Twitter under his belt.
Musk envisions his app operating multiple services, such as food delivery, payments, and shopping, amongst others. In June 2022, the billionaire called for a meeting in which he expanded further on his plans to turn Twitter into a super App. Musk stated that the success of WeChat in China is something that can be replicated in the States while there are no competitors in the market.
