Tata Green Batteries has latest technology for making advanced batteries through Expanded Grid Technology, which will also help in showcasing Idle Start Stop Batteries subsequently. Our aim is to have full technology play in all segments and verticals of automotive battery sector. The company is also gearing to adopt and offer Li-Ion Technology to the Indian market at an appropriate time.

During the last year, COVID-19 posed lot of challenges on business. But, we came together as a team and overcome those challenges successfully by implementing various initiatives. On Front end, we focused on Digital Marketing to improve the brand awareness, launched Paperless Warranty System for hassle free customer service and conducted free battery checkup camps at societies during the lockdown where in the vehicles were stranded for 3 months. Our efforts in connecting with customers helped to enhance the brand image of company. On Back-end, we developed mobile application called ‘We Care’ for automated health monitoring of employees to avoid the risk of COVID-19 inside company premises. Safety is paramount to all of us, hence we developed mobile application ‘BSafe’ for Digitization of Safety Walk & 5S. Being a part of Tata Group, we always believe in ‘Giving back to the Society’. We provided support to various communities like supporting girls’ orphanage with education equipment’s, oxygen concentrators to Guru Nanak Hospital & Gurudwara in Pune, Sanitation facility for villagers near our manufacturing facility & administrative support to old orphanage.

With all these leading efforts, we won accolades & recognitions from leading industry bodies like CII, ACMA, ISQ & many others. We have also been awarded with the prestigious award ‘Commendation for Significant Achievement in Corporate Excellence’ from CII-ITC center of Excellence for Sustainable development.

Innovation & Operational Excellence

Given our parentage of both GS-YUASA and Tata, we lay increasingly high emphasis on innovation. Our batteries are superior in performance even in extreme weather conditions. Tata Green Batteries was the first to launch a battery, which could go 1,00,000 kilometers without a top-up. The patented additives allow us to offer Batteries which not only lasts the longest but also gives the best mileage. Likewise, our distinct technical expertise in Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) technology has helped us in offering the finest battery for two-wheeler applications in India. Further, the cutting-edge technology of GS YUASA and the global customer relationship of both JV partners, we are able to offer new products to these OEMs in the shortest time.  This has helped us in becoming a preferred supplier to most OEMs. We also adopt Japanese practices such as Kaizen, Jishu Hozen, Daily Work Management, Poka-yoke and Quality Circles. These practices help to manufacture batteries with world-class quality. The company has also started embarking upon its Deming Journey.

Tata Green Batteries (TGY) is a 50:50 joint venture between Tata AutoComp Systems and GS Yuasa Corporation, Japan. Tata AutoComp from the house of Tata is one of the largest tier 1 automotive components manufacturers and suppliers of many components to reputed OEMs around the globe. GS YUASA is the world’s largest two-wheeler battery manufacturer and Asia’s largest automotive battery manufacturer with strong OEM relationships and a worldwide presence.

TGY started production in 2006 out of a manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon, Pune. Today we supply to leading auto Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across Two-wheeler, Three-wheeler, Four-wheeler, Off-road, E-Rickshaw and commercial vehicle spaces in India. We also have significant presence in After Market across various segments like Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Tractors, Off Highway, Inverter, Solar and E-Rickshaws.
