Building a future-proof digital infrastructure

ET Edge Insights, in partnership with Equinix, recently organized an insightful roundtable discussion titled “Roadmap to a Sustainable Digital Transformation: Reach, Interconnect & Integrate.”

In today’s dynamic landscape, organizations are facing a crucial challenge. While tech leaders seize significant opportunities, those slow to adopt digital strategies find themselves in heightened competition. This dilemma prompts companies to either invest more in capabilities or risk becoming obsolete. As leaders create collaborative networks, it becomes essential for organizations to strategically position their infrastructure in high-density industry hubs.

According to the projections outlined in the Global Interconnection Index (GXI) 2024 report:

  • By 2025, it is anticipated that 85% of global companies will have expanded multi cloud access across several regions.
  • Concurrently, 90% of Fortune 500 companies are expected to transition into digital providers, actively engaging in the sale and consumption of digital services.

GXI report insights spotlight the rapid growth of digital ecosystems, emphasizing collaboration, adaptable value, and the importance of operational data at the edge. This signifies a shift towards advanced analytics and sustainability in digital operations.

The roundtable aimed to explore how enterprises can navigate the journey to unlocking transformative opportunities in the digital landscape. This session explored the path to unlocking transformative opportunities, fostering engagement among professionals and community leaders.

During the discussion, participants, including CIOs and digital leaders, exchanged their insights and strategies for adapting digital infrastructure to meet the evolving demands of the modern economy.

One key point highlighted by IT leaders was the importance of ensuring scalability to effectively address the organization’s current and future needs. With the rise of new technologies and increasing data volumes, having a platform that can scale seamlessly without compromising performance or reliability has become crucial. Additionally, the challenges of interoperability and integration with existing systems were discussed extensively.

The conversation also emphasized the significance of having a stable digital platform capable of integrating well with legacy systems while ensuring data security against cyber threats. Managing costs and selecting the right vendors were identified as critical factors for consideration. Despite these challenges, participants agreed that by addressing them collaboratively and proactively, IT leaders can select the most suitable digital infrastructure platform to drive innovation and support business growth.

Participants also acknowledged the ongoing challenge of cost management, as they strive to balance the need for advanced features and capabilities within budgetary constraints. Furthermore, navigating the crowded vendor marketplace and selecting reliable partners with a proven track record emerged as additional hurdles.

Senior leaders from Equinix, including Manoj Paul, Managing Director – India, Rajaneesh Karup, Director – Segments & GTM, Asia Pacific & Japan, and David Bate, Senior Vice President, APAC, were present for the discussion. Equinix shared insights into their interconnection services and how they facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between different organizations and cloud platforms.

The discussion also highlighted Equinix’s initiatives to address challenges associated with high power requirements for AI infrastructure. By collaborating with customers and partners, Equinix aims to leverage its digital interconnection services to facilitate seamless connectivity for AI-related data processing and analysis. Their private cloud service offers organizations the flexibility to manage NVIDIA DGX supercomputing infrastructure, enabling the development of custom generative AI models close to their data sources.
